When the workplace induction, training and assessment program has been completed, Issuing Officers (IO), Persons in charge (PIC) and Operators are issued with an initial copy of the Power System Safety Rules and a Australian Electrical Supply Industry (AESI) Passport. Refresher assessments and authorisation renewals for Issuing Officers, Operators and Persons in Charge are conducted every two years. Instructed Persons are issued with a passport and an IP Booklet but are not required to complete a refresher.
By following this formal and rigorous process, the industry is meeting its duty of care responsibilities in making employees aware of the Tasmanian ESI safety rules, access procedures, hazards and dangers in the workplace.
Note: Revision 1.1 of the Power System Safety Rules (PSSR) became effective on 1 April 2010. Please refer to the PSSR Revision 1.1 Awareness Presentation and List of Amendments to familiarise yourself with the changes. These can be found on the Power System Safety Rules section of this web site.
