The Tasmanian Electricity Supply Industry (TESI) is committed to ensuring that all employees and contractors who work on or near power system assets are aware of the dangers and are properly trained and accredited. Power System Safety Rules (PSSR) have been developed by TESI for the safe management of the apparatus that forms the integrated power system in Australia.
Transend manages the administration of power system safety on behalf of the industry in Tasmania. The following TESI companies are signatories to the PSSR and together form the Operating Authority:
- Hydro-Electric Corporation (trading as Hydro Tasmania and Entura);
- Transend Networks Pty Ltd;
- Aurora Energy Pty Ltd; and
- Aurora Energy Tamar Valley Power Pty Ltd (AETV Power).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Power System Safety Rules Revision 1.1 - 1 April 2010 strictly applies to employees and contractors working on or near the power system for a signatory company. WorkCover Tasmania has produced "A Guide to working safely near Overhead PowerLines" for performing work near the power system when not employed by a signatory company.
