About the project
The establishment of a new substation at Mornington on Hobart's eastern shore is an important development for the future of this fast-growing area. The construction of the substation addresses the existing network constraints within the transmission and distribution networks on the eastern shore. The development will comprise two 110/33 kV transformers, a 110 kV double bus bar arrangement and 33 kV switchgear and associated protection, control and monitoring systems. The estimated cost of the project is $27m.
The benefits
The development of the new substation will relieve the load from Lindisfarne and Rokeby substations, ensuring our transmission system remains compliant with the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) Network Performance Requirements Regulations. The new infrastructure also will enable distribution services provider, Aurora Energy, to meet its required service standards for the area.
Completion date
The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-2011.
