We are continuing to invest heavily in building new infrastructure and the upgrade of our existing assets to ensure we can fulfil our mission to provide a safe, reliable and secure electricity transmission service to our customers, now and in the future. By the end of June each year, a comprehensive plan is prepared for the ongoing development of the transmission system to meet forecast electricity supply needs. Projections on electricity usage are obtained from the distribution network service provider, Aurora Energy, and 16 other customers who are directly connected to the transmission system.
Planning and developing new projects is a complex task that involves a detailed analysis of the performance of the existing transmission system, including supply reliability, quality and capacity reserves.
Assessing the impact of climate change policy on demand and the need to control greenhouse gas emissions are becoming an increasingly important part of the planning process.
