Each year, Transend fulfils its regulatory obligation of conducting a ten year look-ahead of the transmission network in Tasmania and reports the findings through the Annual Planning Report (APR).
In particular, we take a close look at:
- the energy demand outlook
- performance of the existing network
- supply capacity and energy constraints and
- the future supply-demand outlook of our customers.
The resulting APR identifies actions required for the next ten years to be undertaken by Transend to ensure customer needs and prescribed performance obligations can be met. These proposed actions are in the form of a program of network augmentations (capital works) as well as maintenance and replacement requirements. We also report on completed network augmentations and resulting performance outcomes.
The information in the 2013 APR will also be used to inform our revenue proposal for 2014-19.
As a regulated business, we have to balance these inputs with our prescribed obligations under the National Electricity Rules. The APR also fulfils our reporting obligations to the Tasmanian Economic Regulator.
The APR is developed in consultation with Aurora Energy, as the distribution network provider in Tasmania, and with our other load and generation customers.
Information sessions about the APR and the plans for the transmission network are being held throughout Tasmania during July. For more information about these sessions call 1300 361 811.
