Business groups

Customer and Asset Management group manages a range of customer relationships and asset management issues including new connection inquiries, customer contract negotiations, pricing and billing of customers and overseeing the wholesale energy market metering arrangements. The group also manages quality of supply issues with customers and determines the impact of new and modified connections on system performance. Key activities such as system load forecasting, the preparation of the Annual Planning Report together with updating of the Grid Vision ensure the company is well placed to meet future challenges.

Transmission Services group is responsible for the stewardship of all transmission lines, substations and protection and control assets around the State. The group establishes contracts and manages contractors and other service providers as well as developing and delivering a rolling five-year maintenance program and delivering the multi-year rolling capital program. An important challenge for us is ensuring that we deliver an excellent safety and environmental performance for all those working on or near transmission assets. The group also helps the Transmission Operations groupto restore power supplies following interruptions.

Transmission Operations group is responsible for real time operation of our assets as a transmission network service provider in the National Electricity Market. The group provides support to the Transmission Services and Customers and Asset Management groups in maintaining and enhancing the transmission system to meet our strategic goals. The group focuses on operational planning, network operations and the provision of telecommunications facilities and services to the Tasmanian electricity industry and other industrial customers. The group works closely with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Tasmania’s Distribution Company Aurora to ensure safe, reliable transmission of energy is available at minimum cost through our network and provides an important link between suppliers (generators) and customers/stakeholders.

Business Services group encompasses a number of critical business support services including human resources; corporate IT; finance; facilities, risk and administration; and public relations. Through the provision of these specialised services, the group ensures the company is able to meet its business goals. The group has a key role in building strong working relationships with customers, including communication and education.

Corporate Strategy and Compliance group coordinates our corporate planning activities and the company's response to the national and Tasmanian electricity market regulatory framework, working with customers, regulators, policy makers and employees. Team members have both public and private sector experience in commerce, economics, law, finance, planning and business development. Services provided include corporate strategy, NEM strategy and compliance and revenue regulation.

Corporate Governance group supports other teams within the business and helps to ensure that activities are consistent with our objectives and strategic direction. Operating in two teams, the group also helps to ensure that our activities are lawful, business-like and efficient. The Secretariat department supports the board of directors and helps the board to meet its responsibility to keep shareholders fully informed, while the Legal Services department provides advice on legislation, regulations, operational and commercial agreements and information on wayleaves and easements.
