Transend Networks Pty Ltd owns and operates the electricity transmission system in Tasmania. We transmit electricity from power stations to substations around the State. We own 3650 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, 47 substations and nine switching stations.
Transend is registered with the Australian Energy Market Operator as a participant in Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM). The NEM operates on an interconnected power system that extends from Queensland to South Australia. Tasmania is connected to the NEM via Basslink—an undersea cable that connects the Tasmanian power system to the mainland system in Victoria.
Our vision is to be a leader in developing and maintaining sustainable networks.
Our mission is transmission: safe, reliable and efficient electricity and telecommunications services.
